In Colorado, legislators created the Task Force on the Rights of Coloradans with Disabilities with the mission of bringing together appropriate stakeholders, experts, and impacted groups to study and make recommendations concerning issues related to persons with disabilities. Extensive input from those with lived experience was necessary on issues relating to access to outdoor recreation, housing and government services.
Confluence was contracted by the Division of Fire Prevention and Control to support the newly formed Wildfire Resilience Code Board (WRCB) to define the Wildfire Urban Interface (WUI) and to develop and adopt model codes that would reduce the risk to life and property. Developing code that must be implemented by local agencies necessitated robust input from local officials and the public.
The Educator Safety Task Force (ESTF) was created to examine issues of aggressive or violent behavior by a student directed toward staff. To gather the experiences of school staff, Confluence led an effort that engaged over 1,000 educators and professionals. Surveys, written stories and videos, critical information and experiences were collected and informed recommendations to state and local leaders.
